Lollipop Learning Center celebrates 2019 graduates

Donning white caps and gowns, this year’s graduates of Lollipop Learning Center entered a packed room that had been dubbed “Candyland.”

They were greeted by balloons in the shape of candy and banners bearing messages like “Learning is Sweet” and “The Path to Success is Sweet.” From the audience, parents and grandparents looked on and smiled.

That was the scene as the center, located at 2766 Hartford Ave., marked its seventh graduation ceremony on June 14.

“This is a momentous occasion in the lives of all of the children,” Maria Evangelista – who opened Lollipop Learning Center with help from her husband, Paul, eight years ago – told those in attendance. “It is also a time to recognize the outstanding work of the teachers, the parents and the students. Just looking around, the happy smiling faces say so much about the environment here. Our children have learned so much. We place great value on community, learning and fun.”

Teachers Mrs. Amanda, Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Theresa and Assistant Director Mrs. Jennifer helped oversee the 45-minute ceremony, which included superlatives for each student.

“I am proud of the way your children love coming to school and look forward to learning every day,” Evangelista told the audience. “Seeing the smiles on their faces every morning is fantastic. They love to learn and that will help them so much as they progress with their education.”

The consensus from the crowd, as it has been with each and every Lollipop Learning Center graduation, is that the children are well equipped to take on the next stop in their educational lives.

“The kids get strong learning foundations here,” said one man, whose grandson was one of 16 graduates. “The teachers are great and instill confidence in all the children who have learned their lessons well.”

The class of 2019 includes Bryce Altieri, Marina Thomas, Laruen Wood, Sienna Sprague, Jayden Mendonca, Mika Pereira, Anthony DiPetrillo, Rocco Haynie, Giavanna Accetturo, Benjamin McCormick, Miranda Morales, Wade Richard, Angelina Jimenez, Haley Silva, Violet O’Brien and Olivia Sokolow.
