On Aug. 25, there will be a Family Day Fundraiser to benefit SBSNE. Inc Nutrition Support Program at Oakland Beach in Warwick. Hosted by Nicole White of Cranston and the President of the Short Bowel Syndrome Foundation for Children of New England, Inc., the event will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. The event was postponed due to rain.
The Family Fun Day Fundraiser will include a car show, a D.J., kids’ activities, food, vendors, and raffles. They are still actively searching for volunteers and vendors for the event.
Short bowel syndrome is a group of problems related to poor absorption of nutrients. Short bowel syndrome typically occurs in people who have had at least half of their small intestine removed and sometimes all or part of their large intestine removed significant damage of the small intestine poor motility, or movement, inside the intestines. Short bowel syndrome may be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on how well the small intestine is working.
Many who are diagnosed with SBS, also have feeding tubes, depend on special formulas and drinks, and blends of real food to sustain because their bodies need the extra help to maintain their nutrition and ultimately, stay out of the hospital.
The fundraiser will consist of a Car Cruise hosted by Cruisin Bruce. There will also be family/kid friendly activities such as face painting, prizes, including a workshop put on by Endless Beautiful; creativity with art, food, and more.

On Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be an Antique Fire Truck Show, sponsored by the RI Antique Fire Apparatus Society, at Johnston Memorial Park, located at 1583 Hartford Ave. Admission is free, yet they will be collecting unwrapped toys to be distributed to children in need during the holidays. The MS Dream Center of Rhode Island and Accessible Rhode Island will host a Wine & Dine Extravaganza on Sept. 8 at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick. Proceeds from the event will benefit the organization, which is dedicated to benefiting individuals with multiple sclerosis and other disabilities.
The event, sponsored by Bob Gasbarro’s Oaklawn Liquors, features a wine and beer tasting, along with a variety of food from some of Rhode Island’s best-known restaurants. For more than two generations, the Cranston Greek Festival has been held the on the church grounds, the weekend after Labor Day. The Festival marks the “Official End of Summer in Rhode Island.” This year it will be held on Sept. 7 through Sept. 9. More than 25,000 people will visit the Cranston Greek Festival over the course of this fabulous three-day event of Food, Fun, Greek Dancing and Culture.
