The students at Winsor Hill Elementary are on their way towards a healthier and safer summer thanks to the school’s recent Healthy Kids Day held last Thursday.

Focusing on safety in a variety of aspects, the students spent the day rotating through eight different stations offering presentations and providing a hands-on experience reinforcing important health topics. Organized by the school’s physical education teacher, Susan Parillo, the event included sessions with Mario Menella of Premier Martial Arts, Rachel Terceira who presented Safety First, Donna Humphries with Aramark presented healthy foods, Dr. Brian Kwetowski spoke about sprains and broken bones, Grace Morgan featured water safety, and Debbie Barshay presented facts about sun safety.

The Johnston Fire Department was also on hand to discuss choking, provide students with walk an ambulance walk through, and a demonstration of the Jaws of Life and fire hoses.
