Smashburger a hit with JHS Student Council

Posted

Back on Dec. 7, Smashburger opened at 1412 Atwood Avenue in Johnston amid a ribbon cutting that featured speeches and well wishes from corporate officials at Mohegan Holding Company and local political leaders like Mayor Joseph Polisena.

Jeanette Ziegler, the CFO of Mohegan Holding Company, which also owns and operates Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT said, “Johnston is a great addition to our continued business growth and we look forward to being part of this community.”

She also announced that Smashburger was going to give 20 percent of the Opening Day Sales to the Johnston High School Student Council.

On Monday, Smashburger Johnston upheld that promise in a big way.

Members of the JHS Student Council, along with Advisor Greg Russo, met with Smashburger General Manager Tony Lendells who presented the proud Panther pack a check, the first-ever from the Johnston restaurant, a check for $1,032.60.

“This is fantastic,” said Russo while thanking Lendells and Mohegan Holding Company. “We can’t thank you enough and look forward to working with Smashburger in the future.”

The Student Council did not announce plans for its new found donation, which was obviously a silent salute of sorts of the way Smashburger has been received since opening only two weeks ago in Johnston.
