Seniors fight back against the flu

Posted

The Johnston Senior Center hosted its first seasonal Flu Clinic last Friday at the same time the center hosted a forum for the Rhode Island Public Housing Authority.

“We filled up three parking lots,” said Assistant Director Millie Santilli. “Things went well as planned. We’re especially happy with the turnout for the Flu Clinic. It was very well attended.”

Santilli also credited the Johnston Police Department with doing “a great job with the traffic.”

The Flu Clinic was coordinated by Maxim Healthcare Services and drew a steady stream of people during its five-hour stay. Maxim Healthcare Services nurses Claire Wright, Rita Borys, Alysha Clayton and Jaime Phetteplace administered the flu shots.

The center will hold another Flu Clinic on Friday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. To get a shot, bring your Medicare Card, health coverage card or number.
