Roger Williams Park Zoo ready to Party for the Planet

Posted

Celebrate our world at Party for the Planet at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, April 16 and 17.

This year's event will highlight the Zoo's conservation and animal care while also giving guests the opportunity to join the zoo in engaging experiences that empower everyone to help conserve wildlife and wild places. The rain date is April 18.

Party for the Planet will include the opportunity to visit the new Faces of the Rainforest exhibit, participate in animal encounters, hear music of South America, sing some favorite tunes and learn about animals from around the world.

During the remainder of the week -- April 15, April 18 and April 19 -- we invite visitors to enjoy a Zoo stay-cation. The Zoo will be offering interesting animal keeper talks, animal encounters and opportunities to enjoy the new Faces of the Rainforest exhibit. Additionally, Explore and Soar -- which is offering Soaring Eagle Zip Ride, camel and train rides -- will be open, weather permitting.

On April 16 and 17 visitors will have the opportunity to test their soccer skills with the New England Revolution's inflatable kick machine and bowling skills with Lang's Bowlarama. Mary King will be singing in Hasbro's Our Big Backyard and New Inca Son Band will be playing in front of the Faces of the Rainforest exhibit. There will be a drumming circle in Wilderness Plaza and crafts in Fabric of Africa.

As guests wander through the grounds, the Zoo's mascot Roger the Red Panda will be available for photos with all guests. Additionally, the New England Revolution's Slyde mascot, and Rhode Island's famous mascot trio NIROPE from Cardi's Furniture & Mattress will be available for photos and selfies.

The week ends on Friday, April 19, with animal encounters, keeper talks and then (weather permitting) the first Food Truck Friday of the season at Carousel Village beginning at 5 p.m.

Party for the Planet activities run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and are free with Zoo admission. For more information visit rwpzoo.org.
