Rhode Island Transit Authority (RIPTA) today and in the future is the topic of October Lunch and Learn workshops presented by the Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL). RIPTA’s aim is to provide safe, reliable and cost-effective public transit service across the state by offering several options: fixed route bus service, the Flex system and the RIDE paratransit program.
Hear about RIPTA’s current services and long-range projects that will lead the agency into the future including the Transit Forward RI master plan, the Downtown Transit Connector, electric buses and a fare system upgrade. Also learn about opportunities to participate in the Accessible Transportation Advisory Committee (ATAC) and the Human Services Transportation Coordinating Council to continue your involvement after the Lunch and Learn. A discussion will follow the presentation, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
The workshops will be held Wednesday, October 30 at OSCIL, 1944 Warwick Ave, Warwick and from 12-2 p.m.
Thursday, October 31 at OSCIL, 175 Main Street, Pawtucket from 12-2 p.m.
As part of OSCIL’s mission to provide outreach, education and opportunities for peer support, OSCIL offers these free Lunch and Learn workshops highlighting various solutions that can increase access in your home and community.

A sign language interpreter and CART has been secured at both locations. United Way’s 211 Information RV will be onsite on Wednesday, October 30 in Warwick.
