Rapper Young Kaii shoots music video at Rondeau's

The championship belts displayed inside Christina Rondeau’s Kickboxing Corporation and Rhode Island Fitness Center speak volumes about the Johnston resident and businesswoman. Rondeau is a champion professional kick-boxer and boxer. She also holds a Master 5th Degree Black Belt and is a former member of USA Kickboxing that toured Poland, Italy and Ireland for three months. Likewise, Rondeau is the proud author of Power Parent and The Elements of Staying Safe and was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame back in 2011.

However, Rondeau had never starred in a video. Until last week, when the local rapper Young Kaii (formerly known in the music industry as K Star) visited Rondeau’s gym, 12 Sunnyside Avenue.

Rondeau is cast as a fighter in the music video for the song “Careless” by Young Kaii. The video was shot at Rondeau’s Kick-boxing, and shots of Rondeau training were taped at Prospect Park in Providence as well as the Rhode Island State House.

“I’m excited about this music video,” Rondeau said. “Young Kaii is a talented woman who fell in love with hip hop at a very young age. She wrote her first verse at age 14, then discovered rapping and writing as a way to release the stress of a non-so-perfect home environment.”

Young Kaii “has used her life experiences as a driving force,” turning the negativity of having hustling brothers and poverty stricken parents “into lyrical masterpieces.” She has released a series of mixtapes including “The Gossip Volume 1,” which has created a buzz in her hometown, Providence, and in New York, Miami and her parents’ home of the Dominican Republic, according to Rondeau.

“She is an individual focused on embracing who she is without placing restrictions on her music,” said Rondeau, who was once a member of the famed Chuck Norris World Combat League Fighter Team New England. “Creating lyrical masterpieces with such passion and dedication, it serves as a fuel and the driving force behind her movement. She pushes through the obstacles shattering the glass ceiling others often allow to keep them down.”

And, just as Rondeau has done throughout her professional kick-boxing career, Kaii strives to be different and creative.

“Diversity is what Kaii aims for with her style of music, growth of what she wants to have as an artist and unity in her desire for all,” said Rondeau.

Young Kaii’s new music video will be released before New Year’s Eve at a special party and date that will be announced on youngkaiimusic.com.

“Personally, I’m excited about doing this and I look forward to seeing the video, especially since it will be put to music.”
