VANDALISM

On November 2 around 6 a.m., Officer Jared DeAngelis responded to a Greenville Avenue address for a report of vandalism to a door. At the scene he spoke with the complainant, who advised that when he arrived at work that morning he observed the front door had been damaged by a rock that was laying nearby.

Officer DeAngelis reported that he observed the damage to the door and was also provided with video surveillance that showed a man throw a rock at the door at approximately 3:19 a.m. The complainant told the officer that he immediately recognized the individual as John Green, 38, of 109 George Street in Johnston.

The complainant told Officer DeAngelis that he had banned Green from the business about a month ago, and stated that he distinctly recognized the sweatshirt the man in the video was wearing as belonging to him. The report also notes that the suspect was wearing pants with a reflective material on the left front pocket.

Shortly after taking the report, Officer DeAngelis encountered Green on the street. Although he was not wearing the sweatshirt in the video, he was wearing the pants with the reflective material. He was arrested, transported to police headquarters and processed. Green was charged with malicious injury to property and held pending arraignment.

BREAKING AND ENTERING

On August 11 at approximately 8:10 a.m., Lieutenant Michael Babbitt and Officer Remy Mendez responded to a Central Avenue address for a report of a breaking and entering that had already occurred. At the scene they spoke with the reporting party who informed them that on that date at approximately 7:50 a.m. she arrived to help her mother. While she was inside the residence, she noticed that a screen to a window was pushed in and that the window was pushed open.

The woman conducted a walk through of the house and noticed that several drawers were slightly opened and that a pillowcase had been removed from a pillow in the bedroom. It also appeared that the drawers of a jewelry box were also opened.

Detectives later arrived to process the scene. While canvassing the area they noticed that the bushes located near the point of entry window had been pushed down. A white hat was also found in the bushes, which may have been left behind by a suspect. It was later determined that assorted jewelry and other items had been taken from the residence.

Following an investigation, an arrest warrant was drawn for William Phipps, 55, of 115 Bath Street in Providence, who was suspected in the break in. On October 26, Detective Thomas Dwyer and Officer David Galligan responded to the Riverbend Apartments in Cranston, where they met with members of the Cranston Police Department. There, CPD officers had Phillips in custody. He was arrested on the warrant and transported to police headquarters where he was held.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

At approximately 5:10 p.m. on October 30, Officer Nicholas Manocchio was on a fixed post at the corner of Calumet Avenue and Hartford Avenue when he reported that he observed a silver Nissan Maxima that failed to obey a stop sign on the Route 6 west off ramp. A traffic stop was then conducted in the area of 5 Henry Court.

Contact was then made with the driver, identified as Jordan McShane, 28, of 18 Columbia Avenue in Lincoln. McShane stated that his vehicle was not registered, and that the license plates belonged to his old truck and that he had recently purchased the Nissan. A background check also revealed that his license was suspended.

Checks through the court system revealed that McShane had five prior convictions for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. He was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was held pending arraignment. His car was towed from the scene, his license plates were seized, and he was issued a summons for obedience to a stop sign along with a Third District Court Summons to appear on the driving with a suspended license charge.
