WRONG STICKER

While on patrol in the area of 1100 Plainfield St. on May 27 around 10:56 a.m., Officer Matthew Leveillee observed a gold colored Mazda minivan traveling east bearing Rhode Island license plates with a Massachusetts inspection sticker.

After conducting a traffic stop, the officer made contact with Luis Negron, 33, of 6 Whelan Road, Apt. 2 in Providence. A check revealed that the license plates were last registered to a 1999 silver Lexus and had not been active since January 2015. Negron advised the officer that he did not have an active Rhode Island driver’s license, which background checks confirmed. Checks also verified that there was no active registration for the Mazda mini van.

Negron was issued a Third District Court summons for driving without a license, a Johnston Municipal Court citation for no inspection sticker, as well as a Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal citation for operating an unregistered vehicle and improper use of evidence of registration.

The minivan was towed and Negron was released at the scene where he awaited RIPTA for transportation.

NO PLATE

Officer Richard Varan was on George Waterman Road on May 26 just after 10 p.m. when he observed a car traveling south with no front registration plate. A traffic stop was then initiated in the area of 331 George Waterman Road.

The driver, identified as Lori Capuano, 57, of 204 Greenville Ave., Apt. 18 B in Johnston, was found to have a suspended license and a suspended registration for failure to deposit security. Her vehicle was towed from the scene, and Capuano was released with a Third District Court summons for operation of a vehicle when registration is suspended, display of plates, and driving with a suspended license.
