JYF to hold fundraiser

How’d you like to invest five bucks and win some cash – or a valuable gift card – every day during the month of October?

If the answer is “yes” … then the Johnston Panthers Football & Cheer has an offer that’s too good to refuse.

All anyone has to do is purchase an 8x11-inch Calendar Raffle Car that the well-organized youth football and cheerleading organization will be conducting and when each of 31 drawings is held, the card holder could win a $50 gift card at Bar 101 or two tickets to a Providence College basketball game.

“We’re really, really proud of what our (non-profit) organization is offering for this special fund-raiser,” Matthew Clements, a long-time youth sports advocate who doubles as the group’s president, offered. “I personally want to congratulate Tara Abruzzi for taking on such an ambitious campaign.”

Abbruzzi is the Johnston Panthers Football & Cheer Fundraising Director, who has the Calendar Raffle Card filled with interesting prizes such as cash prizes of $25 and $50, a $40 offer at Split Ends Salon, two Providence Bruins tickets, an in-office Whitening offer valued at $199 as well as a car reconditioning coupon worth $200.

“It’s always challenging for any youth sports organization to meet its annual and always-increasing seasonal operating budgets,” Clements wanted it known. “Therefore, a fundraiser like the Calendar Card has the potential to make a big difference in our operating cost for the 2019 season.”

Sean Senno, the Panthers’ vice president, also heaped words of praised upon Abbruzzi for what he called her “Herculean effort in taking on this unique and time-consuming project.”

Abbruzzi, meanwhile, issued a townwide thank you to each and every business that has “so generously donated either their goods or gift cards that will without question help us raise the necessary funds to keep our youth football and cheerleading experience going for the youth of Johnston.”

She then explained that each Calendar Raffle card has a specific number and that stub will be used for all 31 drawings that Abbruzzi said will be held daily at 8 p.m. Daily winners will receive the amount or prize shown on the calendar for the day the entry is drawn and the card holder can win more than once, as each winning entry is re-entered for subsequent drawings.

Calendar entries are $5 each and Abbruzzi said they cannot accept checks, only cash.

All winners will be contacted by email or phone using the information clearly printed on the entrant’s tickets. For more information or to purchase a ticket please call 441-3807.
