Pasco “Pat” Gatta Jr., 89, formerly of Simmonsville, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018

at home surrounded by his loving family after a short illness. Pat is the beloved husband of 67 years of Rita (D’Ambra) Gatta (d.2017).

He is the son of the late Pasquale and Mary (Russo) Gatta. Pat was a devout and early active member and usher at St. Rocco Church in Johnston. He was employed in the family business at Primrose Laundry after serving as Corporal E-3 in the USMC with many of his town’s buddies during the Korean War. As a professional truck driver, Pat drove for E. Calore Transportation; Campanella and Cardi; and Cardi Corporation. Pat later worked for Tilcon-Gammino in Cranston until his retirement in 1991. Throughout his retirement, Pat enjoyed, among other things, playing golf at West Warwick Country Club, taking care of his yard and gardens, summer visits at the beach with his beloved grandchildren, assisting in local friend’s and cousin’s greenhouses, and meeting his buddies for coffee at a moment’s notice. After his move to Pennsylvania, Pat greatly enjoyed playing pool and cards with his new friends at the Schoolhouse Senior Center in Folsom.

Pat is the beloved father of Kevin Gatta (Barbara), formerly of Brooklyn, NY, now residing in Broomall, PA. He is the beloved grandfather of Luke (Brittany), Nicholas (d. 1989), Dominic, and Mary. His first great-grandchild of Luke (Brittany) is due this upcoming Winter. Pat’s siblings are sister Concetta Castelli, brother John (d.1996), and twin brothers Peter and Paul. Pat will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in St. Rocco Church, 931 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial, with military honors, will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
