Panthers pick up wins in final meet

The Johnston High School boys’ and girls’ outdoor track teams closed out the dual-meet season on Monday at Lincoln and both squads picked up their first victories of the season. The boys beat Burrillville 48-30 while falling to Lincoln and North Providence. The Johnston girls edged North Providence 49-40 and lost to both Burrillville and Lincoln. Freshman Brandon McFarlane was the top performer on the boys’ side, winning the high jump by clearing five feet, six inches. For the girls, Erin Tvenstrup led the Panthers with a first place finish in the javelin. Her best throw went 67 feet, seven inches.
