Officers aimed to keep kids safe on Halloween

Posted

Officers involved in the Johnston Police Department's Adopt-A-School Program stopped in to visit their adopted elementary schools in town this week to talk about Halloween safety. During their classroom visits, officers distributed Halloween safety tips and glow in the dark safety wristbands. Chief Richard Tamburini and Major Matt LeDuc initiated the program that includes periodic visits throughout the school year. The patrolmen participating in the program are striving to strengthen relationships between students and officers. Having officers visit schools not only makes them an approachable resource to the children but also a potential role model. Officers are assigned to the following schools: (pictured left to right) Patrolman Mike Protano, Trinity Christian Academy; Patrolman Remy Mendez, Thornton; Patrolman Mike Andreozzi, Calef; Patrolman Derek Parascandolo, Graniteville; Patrolman David Galligan, Winsor Hill; Patrolman Matt Leveillee, St. Rocco's; (not pictured) Patrolman David Slinko, Sarah Dyer Barnes; Patrolman Matt Winsor, Brown Avenue.
