No trash pickup

Tuesday, April 25, was trash day in my neighborhood in the Town of Johnston. My trash was not picked up. If the trash truck driver drove to my house, I am confident my trash would have been removed. This is not a one-time, isolated mishap. However, my observation has been that the trash truck driver does not drive a direct route to my house.

The driver of the trash truck approaches my house from beyond a main, intersecting neighborhood street and thru a stop sign—by backing into the section of street where my house and trash are located.   There is no good reason for this manner of driving, other than for the convenience of the driver.

This mishap is getting old with me. The problem lies with Patriot Disposal.   And, I, the taxpayer, should not be calling Patriot Disposal directly, as instructed by the Town of Johnston. When a trash issue involves noncompliance of the minimum specifications of the contract, the Town contracting official needs to know and should be the only person representing the Town on matters concerning that contract. That’s how I handled contracts, as a former United States Government Contracting Officer.

On Tuesday, April 25, Patriot Disposal violated the terms of its contract when its driver failed to remove my trash. And, the driver’s pattern of driving to access my trash, is a matter for the Johnston Police Department.
