Look who's talking at Cherry Hill Manor

Posted

Last week, residents at the Life Care Center of America’s Cherry Hill Manor hosted Kevin Driscoll, who is a full-time musical ventriloquist and entertainer for people ages 2 to 102 – the young and young at heart.

As a former music teacher and general manager of a small international Internet company, Driscoll enjoys each performance opportunity to combine his three passions – music, ventriloquism and education.

There were approximately 60 people in attendance.

“Seniors remember Edgar Bergen, Señor Wences, Sheri Lewis with Lambchop, and the many other ventriloquists on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show,’” said Driscoll.

“Today several seniors claimed to even remember listening to ‘The Charlie McCarthy Show,’ the 1940s NBC Sunday night radio show with the ventriloquist Edgar Bergen. When I brought out my Charlie McCarthy-replica puppet today, many of the seniors recognized Charlie and called out his name.”

Driscoll brought his puppets Charlie McCarthy, Doug the Dog, Willie The Red Nosed Whiteboard and Jerry Mahoney. He also had a volunteer from the audience play the part of a human dummy.

Additional information is available by visiting DriscollProductions.com or calling Driscoll at 617-901-6232.

Special thanks to Steve Popiel who volunteered to wear our ventriloquist sterilized face mask and become our HUMAN DUMMY! Steve is pictured on the right with the funny face mask in one of the photos here. We ALL had a blast!
