Local children's chorus to sing at Carnegie Hall

Posted

The award-winning Rhode Island Children’s Chorus will be representing Rhode Island in a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Friday, April 26.

The select Chamber Choir, an advanced women's chorus consisting of 30 high school students from all over Rhode Island, serves as the touring choir for special events and invitational concerts. The choir was invited to perform based on previous performances at the American Choral Directors Association Conventions and on recording history. The Chamber Choir will participate in a performance that will feature select choruses from around the country in the Choirs of America’s “Nationals for Top Choirs.” The grouped choirs will collaborate with international-renowned composer Z. Randall Stroope, including the world premiere of his new work, “The Seven Glories of the Stars.”

Auditions for new members at all levels of the Rhode Island Children’s Chorus (grades 2 through 12) will be held in June. More information is available at www.richildrenschorus.org.
