The smile on Tammy Barone’s face was priceless.
However, the glow from the sounds of the season that echoed through various floors of the award winning Morgan Health Center in Johnston put an even brighter glow on the faces of residents than the lights on the healthcare facilities well decorated Christmas tree.
It was all made possible by members of the Johnston Lions Club who entertained residents and staff at Morgan Health Center during their annual Christmas Carol Concert.
“This is something we’ve been doing for years and years during the holidays,” said Robert J. Civetti, a long-time Lions Club member and first-term Johnston Councilman. “I can remember back when my daughter Lauren was a little girl and she came with me; now, she’s a senior at JHS.”
As for Barone, she is the person at Morgan Health Center charged with making nice things happen for the residents, whether it be a birthday lunch celebration or holiday happening like the Lions Club recently presented live and accompanied by Santa Claus.
“This is fun for every one,” Civetti said. “The people here at Morgan [Health Center] love having us here and we absolutely enjoy singing traditional carols in hopes that everyone has a very, very Merry Christmas.”
As one Lions Club member said after his fellow carolers sang “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” “We’re not exactly pros at this sort of thing; but we love making it special for each and every person here at Morgan Health Center.”
To which King Lion Joseph Swift, the long-serving JLC’s president, added: “This has been a terrific tradition for our club; if we didn’t do this, it wouldn’t be Christmas for a lot of us!”
The same held true for members of the Johnston High School Chapter of the National Honor Society who accompanied the Lions Club on visits to both the Morgan Health Center and Cherry Hill Manor again this year.
