JYF registration continues

There was a flurry of activity inside Northeast Auto Body Saturday morning.

“We’ve got all sorts of stuff going on,” Matt Clements, the first-year president of the Johnston Youth Panthers Football and Cheerleading non-profit, said with a smile on his face. “In that room, three women (Tracy Dorgan, Jessica Martinez and Denise Domenici) are doing inventory for our cheerleading uniforms.”

Meanwhile, inside the colorful and classy “Salzillo Showplace” that’s filled with many championship trophies, pictures and other unique awards, Team Mom Stephanie Ogden and new Vice President Sean Senno sat in front of a computer system, signing up boys and girls ages 5 to 14 who’ll participate in one of Southeaster New England’s finest youth football and cheerleading programs.

As for Clements, he scooted back and forth offering assistance wherever needed and talking with proud parents about that the entire Johnston Panthers Football and Cheerleading teams hope will be another banner and championship year.

“I think today’s rain is holding some people back,” said Clements about the sign-up session. “But the kids will have plenty of opportunity to register in the coming weeks as well as on-line.”

The JYF will hold player and cheerleader registrations again this Saturday (May 4) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Northeast Auto Body located at 775 Hartford Avenue.

Clements also announced that other “live registrations” will be held on Thursday and Friday, May 16-17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Northeast Auto Body center and Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Football player registration for kids ages 5-13 is $145 per player although there are discounts for multiple siblings from the same family. The cheerleading fee is $135 for kids ages 5-14. Online registration is open and available anytime on johnstonfootball.com.
