LARCENY

Jimmy Archer, 27, 25 Bennett St., Stoughton, Massachusetts, was arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of larceny of checks on June 25.

Archer has a pre-trial date set for July 8 and bail was set at $1,000 with surety. Archer was charged in connection with an alleged incident that occurred in July of 2018.

Patrolman Michael A. Schiappa responded to a call of larceny of checks on July 13, 2018. He spoke with the business owner, who said that on the above date she was checking her business bank account online when she saw a check was cashed for $936. Police said she told them she did not write or authorize the check, and found during a further look that there were five additional unauthorized checks that had been cashed between June 22 and July 12.

The total amount for the unauthorized checks was $5,519. Schiappa said the owner told him that a look through her checkbook found three more unaccounted checks that had not been cashed yet. Schiappa said all of the checks were cashed at the same location.

The owner was also referred to Providence Police to file fraud charges, and she told Johnston Police that she suspected Archer to be responsible. Police said the business owner believed that to be the case because Archer left prior to police arrival and ignored phone calls from the business. A warrant was signed for his arrest on July 30, 2018.

VANDALISM

Patrolman Edward Gonzalez responded to a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle on Atwood Avenue on the morning of June 22.

Gonzalez met with the calling party upon arrival, who indicated to him that a friend of his – whom he identified as Alexia Mosca, 23, 815 Sandy Lane, Warwick – had vandalized his vehicle. The car was parked on Atwood Avenue, and upon inspection Gonzalez said he noticed that all four ties were flat and key damage was present around the entire vehicle. The calling party also indicated the front license plate was gone.

A witness approached Gonzalez, saying she was home watching television when she heard a scraping noise coming from outside. Gonzalez said the woman told him that when she looked out her window, she saw a woman known to her as Mosca ripping the front plate off the car. The witness told Gonzalez that she further saw Mosca key the entire driver side of the vehicle. The witness told Gonzalez that Mosca then fled the scene.

While still speaking with both parties, Gonzalez said someone yelled out to them that Mosca was driving by the scene southbound on Atwood Avenue by their location. The vehicle in which she was driving matched the description provided by the witness, Gonzalez said. He pursued the vehicle and stopped it at 1401 Plainfield St.

Mosca was identified as the driver, and she denied being involved in the incident upon questioning. Mosca was charged with vandalism/malicious injury to property, larceny under $1,500 and operating on a suspended license, third offense.

Mosca was released on $1,000 bail with surety with a Third Division District Court date set for June 22.
