The Johnston football team fell to visiting Rogers 48-8 last week to fall to 0-2 in league play this season.

Rogers would score five rushing touchdowns in the victory. Darian Piker led the charge with two rushing scores, while Kayvon Lockhart, Justin Paiva and Brian Robar all added rushing touchdowns as well.

Rogers quarterback Max Newsome connected with Logan Ratcliff for a 24-yard touchdown. Rogers would add another score when Ratcliff returned an interception the distance for the score.

Johnston’s lone score came in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard run by Vewldeth Diaz. Diaz would go on to rush for the 2-point conversion the following play.

Johnston will now head to West Warwick to take on the Wizards, who are also seeking their first win of the 2019 season.
