Johnston 13u Panthers overpower 49ers

Posted

The Johnston 13U Panthers faced the Providence 49ers this week and came out on top with an impressive 34-14 victory. The Panthers’ offense was led by quarterbacks Dimetri Iafrate and Joey Acciardo. The offense put on a show with its passing game.

Iafrate, with all kinds of time from his offensive line, found wide receiver, Jake Lincourt, wide open in the 49ers secondary. Lincourt made spectacular catches for two touchdowns. The running game was equally impressive with brilliant runs by Teshawn Campbell and Jonathon D’Angelo, who each took the ball to the end zone on long runs for Panther touchdowns.

The Panthers’ defense also did its part by shutting down a determined 49ers running game. The defense was sparked by Ryan Schino, who shut down the 49ers biggest drive by stripping the ball from the 49ers running back, resulting in a turnover.

The offense capitalized on this turnover on the next play. The tough Panthers’ offensive line created a huge hole to allow Iafrate to run 50 yards, putting the Panthers within 20 yards of the end zone.

The Panthers’ special teams also put on a show when Lincourt took a kick return 70 yards for another Panther touchdown.

This year’s Panther team members are Peter Bibby, CJ Ragosta, Sean Murphy, Andrew Picard, Terell Francois, Carlos Alfaia, Matthias Barros, Benjamin Jennings, Kevin Franjul, Nicholas Perron, Jamel Gonzalez, Joe Bastianelli, Isaiah Debritto, Troy Nicotra, Daniel Peterson, Dante Fiorio, Gian Souza, Dylan Silva, Gianni Palumbo, Dario Branch, Adolfo Betancur, Joe Castellone, Phillip Costantini and Felix Rodriguez.
