The Johnston 13U Panthers went up against the CLCF Chiefs this week posting and posted a 21-6 victory.

The Panthers received the opening kickoff and the offense immediately set the tone of the game by marching the ball into the Chiefs’ territory.

Quarterback Dimetri Iafrate threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Jake Lincourt, who was wide open in the end zone. Iafrate then called his own number and ran the extra point in for a 7-0 lead.

The second quarter saw a tough Panther defense preventing the Chiefs from getting any traction on offense. The Panther defense was led by Sean Murphy, Andrew Picard, Nick Perron, Danny Petterson, Carlos Alfaia and Terrell Francois.

The third quarter saw the Panther special teams dominate when Joe Bastianelli recovered a Panther kickoff.

Panther running back Jonathan D’Angelo capitalized on this recovery by rushing 35 yards on an elusive run, being brought down on the 4-yard line.

Running back Kevin Franjul then bulled his way into the end zone. Receiver CJ Ragosta caught the extra point in the corner of the end zone to give the Panthers a 14-0 lead.

Fullback Isaiah Debritto contributed to the offensive dominance with strong runs, giving the Panthers great field position.

In the fourth quarter, the Panther defense once again showed its toughness when Lincourt sacked the Chiefs’ quarterback on fourth-and-long. This resulted with a turnover on downs, giving the Panthers the ball on the 5-yard line.

Quarterback Joe Acciardo rammed his way into the end zone, led by his powerful offensive line comprised of Ryan Schino, Phil Costantini, Gianni Palumbo, Joe Bastianelli, Adolfo Betancur and Dylan Silva.

Acciardo then found Ragosta again wide open for the extra point.

The Panthers also had great contributions throughout the game from Dante Fiorio, Jamel Gonzalez, Troy Nicotra and Felix Rodriguez.
