JHS SADD and NHS spread holiday cheer

National Honor Society members will be organizing a school-wide toy drive on Friday, December 14. All toys will be donated to a foundation for less fortunate families that may need help this holiday season. Clothing, toys and other requested items are being organized and donated in the spirit of the holidays.

The SADD organization, Students Against Dangerous Decisions, is taking part in, “Adopt-a-Family,” which helps local families who are not able to purchase Christmas gifts for their children.

Each student buys a couple of a child’s requested gifts and later will wrap them and then send them to be delivered to the families just in time for Christmas.

Many teachers and students are participating in this act of charity in order to make a difference for a variety of families this holiday season.

The Student Council also has plans to operate a cereal drive on Friday, December 21, to raise food items for Johnston Senior High School’s food pantry.

The food items in the pantry will also go towards the less fortunate this holiday season. All in all, Johnston’s numerous school groups are making the world a better place yet again, one gift at a time.
