Holidays in full swing at Housing Authority
On Dec. 16, the Aime J. Forand Tenants Association hosted the annual holiday celebration in the facility’s community room. Forand Association President Beverly Williams said she is pleased to carry on this holiday tradition.
“The hall was beautifully decorated, the food was fabulous and we all were together to enjoy our longstanding holiday traditions,” she said. “For many of our residents, this time of year can bring on feelings of sadness and depression. This gathering is our way of bringing cheer and a sense of unity for all our folks.”
Meanwhile, the Pell Tenants Association got decked out for their celebration. Marty Church, Pell Association treasurer and JHA resident commissioner, was equally pleased with the Pell festivities.
“Our association is mindful that this season can bring folks down a bit, and we make every effort to bring holiday joy to Pell Manor,” she said. “You would be surprised at how much cheer is brought by the simple act of buying hats and mittens for kids in need. And, to be able to share food and music together makes it all wonderful.”
JHA Executive Director David M. aRusso agreed that the Housing Authority’s charitable work is as beneficial for residents as the people being served.
“Our tenants associations do so much to help all the people at Forand and Pell, and the staff and administration always are eager to share in these traditions,” he said.
Sit-down dinners were catered by Lancellotta’s at Forand and Ralph’s Kitchen at Pell, and music by Ronnie Sands and Mary Lou at Forand and the stylings of Buddy Pistachio at Pell.
