History comes to life at Winsor Hill Wax Museum

Nicole Grilli stood alongside her Winsor Hill Elementary School colleagues with a wide smile on Tuesday afternoon.

“This has been an ongoing tradition for fifth-graders for countless years,” Grilli explained of Winsor Hill’s Wax Museum, which was on display Tuesday afternoon inside the school’s gymnasium. “The last two years have been focused on figures from the American Revolution.”

That’s why some students portrayed Martha Washington and Mary Draper, who is best known for the help she gave the Continental Army. They were dressed in a variety of colonial garb dating back to when the subjects they portrayed made their mark on the nation’s history.

Grilli said the students work “diligently” to accurately depict their chosen historical figures.

“It was a great learning experience for all,” she said.

Grilli credited her fellow Winsor Hill teachers – Donna Gajdowski, Giana Filippone, Jasmine Davila, Lynn Gulino and Allison Hawbecker – for helping students with their respective American Revolution projects.
