The Emo DiNitto/Rhode Island Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, held it 31st Annual Awards Dinner Tuesday night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick. Johnston High School’s Elijah Burgess (center) was one of 12 finalists honored during the dinner. Here, he’s joined by President Emeritus and long-time high school football coach Emo DiNitto and Dante Scarnecchia, famed offensive line coach for the New England Patriots who received the non-profit’s prestigious Distinguished American Award. In the other photo, Scarnecchia is flanked by Bruce Guindon (let), who won the RI Football Officials Award and Domenic Marcone, winner of the Contribution to Amateur Football Award. The Chet Pono and Frank Morey Scholarships of $1,000 each went to Ethan Ennis of La Salle Academy and Isaiah Branch of Rogers High School in Newport, respectively. (Sun Rise photos by Pete Fontaine)
