Gilbert Anthony Botelho, age 90, of King St., Johnston, died on August 14, 2019 at RI Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was married to his wife Anna (Troll) Botelho for 66 years.

Gilbert was born in Providence, a son of the late Anthony and Lucy (Coria) Botelho. He was drafted and proudly served our country during the Korean War with the US Army. He was wounded in Korea in May of 1952 and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was past president and member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Past Esquire and member of the BPOE East Providence #2377, member and past president Johnston Hose #3 Association, past Commander and member DAV Folcarelli Chapter #1, member and past quartermaster Korean War Veterans Association Chapter #3 and member and past president of Aime Forand Senior Citizens.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Donna Zarrella of West Warwick, Lorelei DeFazio and her husband Peter of Warwick, six grandchildren: David Zarrella, Danielle Zarrella, Corey Welch, Ryan Welch, Angela DeFazio and Nicholas DeFazio. He was the brother of Leonard Coria, Daniel Botelho, Joseph Botelho all of East Providence, Barbara Furtado of FL and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Richard Zarrella and his sister Gladys Ragano.

His funeral will begin on Tuesday (8/20) at 8:45am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Thomas Church, Fruit Hill Ave., Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Rhode Island Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 19 from 4-7pm.
