Food Bank gets a boost from ‘Little Angels’

The theme for the month of November at Little Angel’s Academy is “giving thanks,” and in honor of Thanksgiving, the pre-school students there took part in a food drive. The children collected several dozen items that were donated last week to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

Teacher Karen Esposito said the project served a dual purpose, teaching the class about giving back to the community.

“We explained how some families are less fortunate and sometimes they have a hard time putting food on the table,” she said.

Little Angel’s often runs charitable drives, benefiting causes like the Food Bank and a young boy in Arizona with cancer, whom the students donated toys and stuffed animals to. Little Angel’s Academy owner Carolyn Ranaldi also made a personal donation to the Food Bank as part of the class’ efforts.

After packing up their food donations last Thursday, the students settled in for story time courtesy of Mohr Library’s Children’s Associate Michelle Greenwood.
