Behind the scenes

Posted

On Thursday, May 16, the Cub Scouts of Pack 20 Johnston had the pleasure of going to visit the local fire station on Route 44. Johnston Firefighters Derek LaFazia and Steve Varesko went over fire safety and some basic first aid concepts as well as why the fire service provides for the community and the importance of smoke detectors and having a fire safety plan for one’s family. At the end of the visit, the kids were given a tour of the fire station, truck and equipment. The firefighters answered many questions, and the children loved testing out the fire hose and getting a demonstration of the Jaws of Life. (Submitted photos)
