Elementary legislators

On Nov. 1, fifth graders at Brown Avenue Elementary School went on a tour of the Rhode Island State House, and held a mock session in the House of Representatives chambers, and Student Council candidates gave their speeches on the steps of the State House. The students debated their own issues, like a proposal for no homework and the potential for an extended school day. As the group was leaving the State House, the governor's motorcade pulled up, giving the students the chance to meet Lincoln Chafee as well as Lieutenant Governor Liz Roberts and Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis.
