Denise DiPippo, who owns and operates the award-winning Denise’s Dance Studio at 80 Greenville Ave. in Johnston, has a problem.

In short, DiPippo – who has been in the dance business for three decades and counting – suddenly finds herself looking for room to display additional awards her talented troupe recently won Platinum Arts Dance Competition in Taunton, Massachusetts.

“I’m proud, extremely proud of our girls and choreographers,” DiPippo said. “I consider everyone here part of our family. I’m absolutely thrilled our teams brought back a host of awards.”

For starters, Denise’s Advanced Senior squad staked claim to the prestigious Grand Champion Solo Award after performing to the song “Nice For What.”

The Senior Hip-Hop group performed to “Finesse,” and their routine, which was choreographed by Akeia Neves, won Grand Champion for overall small group with platinum and first place in their category.

“Our mini small group was absolutely phenomenal,” DiPippo said about the troupe of dancers, which is coached and choreographed by Leah Spirito. “They placed first overall in their age division and won the High Gold Award and their performance was done to the song ‘My Boyfriend’s Back.’”

Moreover, choreographers Kendall Bernier and Spirito won the choreography awards for the number “You Say” and Special Judges Award with a Platinum Score for their routine done to the music of “Great Emotion.”

Likewise, Denise’s Dance Studio also earned another impressive honor, as some of DiPippo’s dancers were chosen to be included in a group of 70 to 100 esteemed dancers who will open and close the national competition which will be held at Foxwoods Casino & Resort in Ledyard, Connecticut, in July.

The student’s teachers/choreographers who trained Denise’s dancers on their routines who were mainly the reasons for the studio’s new-found championship and platinum scoring successes are Leah Spirito, Akeia Neves, Brieanna Tellier, Giandra “GiGi" and Kendell Bernier.
