The RI Home Show, an event in its 68th year and produced by the RI Builders Association, welcomes the return of the 2nd Annual Spring Flower & Garden Show as a major feature within the show April 5 to 8 at the Rhode Island Convention Center.

The show announced the expansion to include the flower and garden categories in early 2017. This was made possible after purchasing the title name and digital assets of the Rhode Island Spring Flower & Garden Show, which went out of business in 2016.

The Rhode Island Builder’s Association is working closely with the Rhode Island Federation of Garden Clubs (RIFGC) on the new and improved flower and garden show, entitled “Springtime Floral Fusion”. RIFGC will provide their local expertise within the landscape, floral, and horticulture communities to ensure that the show’s floral and garden components will be attractive and educational for the Rhode Island consumer.

Blakley Szosz, president of RIFGC, describes the organization’s collaboration with the show, “Sharing our passion and love for design, the environment, and horticulture has always been our mission. Through working with the Spring Flower and Garden Show, we are able to do that in a relevant, inspiring, and meaningful way. This year we are bringing our best and brightest to Springtime Floral Fusion featuring contemporary floral artistry that is sure to inspire, excite and delight our visitors.”

The show will bring together both designers from New England and nationally accredited judges. Springtime Floral Fusion will be the RIFGC’s largest public flower show presentation with 48 contemporary and traditional designs.

Attendees should expect thousands of fresh-cut flowers on display, as well as 10,000 square feet of dedicated garden space. These gardens will appeal to guests’ senses with a focus on both color and fragrance.  Additional unique garden vignettes will also be present, including hanging gardens, a “She Shed”, water features, a lush greenhouse, living walls, zen garden, and an outdoor living hardscaped area. The garden features will be orchestrated by RIFGC in collaboration with Central Nurseries and Future Farmers of America. Designs will be provided by Rhode Island School of Design, Visual Shift, and Unilock.

The return of the Spring Flower & Garden Show will once again focus on environmental education opportunities. With the support of dedicated partners, the show strives to integrate sustainable solutions not only within the home but throughout the local community.

John Marcantonio, CEO of the RI Builders Association added, “Adding the Flower & Garden Show to the RI Home Show was a way for us to combine outdoor living, horticulture, and the environment, with energy and housing.   It’s turned out to be an amazing collaboration with incredibly talented and dedicated RI based organizations, and because of their efforts, the Flower & Garden Show will be much bigger, bolder, and pleasing to those who visit it.  Bringing the Flower Show back in 2017 got off to a slow start, but I’m sure most will be happy to know that it’s “growing” in the right direction in 2018.  We thank the public for all their support and welcome them to experience the new show.”

The 68th Annual RI Home Show featuring the RI Spring Flower & Garden Show will be held at the Rhode Island Convention Center on April 5-8. Admission for adults is $10 and tickets are valid for up to three re-entries. Kids ages 15 and under are free.
