Coast Guard Auxiliary safe boating course starts June 3

Posted

Summer is right around the corner. Time to get out on the water. First, though, you need your State Boating Card and, more important, you and your family need to learn how to be safe out there.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering a safe boating course Mondays and Thursdays in June. This four-week course covers rules of the road, aids to navigation, GPS and using plotters, jet skis, boat handling, federal and state regulations, electronic and chart navigation, and much more. The course starts Monday, June 3 and runs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Coast Guard Auxiliary building at Brewer’s Cowesett Marina North off Post Road. The fee is $65 for the first person and $35 for members of the family sharing materials. This includes textbook, charts and handouts. Successful completion results in a State Boating Card and USCG Aux Certificate. For more information or to register, email roz@butziger.com or go to www.northstarflotilla.com.
