Botti, The Wailers, Stills, Collins, Marsalis, McLaughlin and Herring headline Park Theatre fall lineup
This fall the historic Park Theatre will host some of the area’s most sought after, and in some cases, only, regional appearances by legends from the jazz, folk, flamenco, pop and reggae worlds. Grammy-winning trumpeter Chris Botti (9/16), Stephen Stills and Judy Collins (10/7), and legendary guitarists John McLaughlin and Jimmy Herring (11/5) are just a few artists making their way to the Park Theatre stage this fall. On October 13, The Wailers’ performance will mark the return of famed bassist and founder Aston “Familyman” Barrett along with original Wailers’
guitarists Junior Marvin and Donald Kinsey. Other notable performances include Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis (10/8), renowned flamenco guitarist Paco Peña (10/20), Grammy-winning jazz saxophonist Boney James (10/22), and Arlo Guthrie’s Re:Generation Tour (11/11). Tickets for all concerts are on sale now at www.parktheatreRI.com.
“We are very excited to present such a strong lineup that features stellar artists across many genres, including a rare opportunity to see John McLaughlin and Jimmy Herring on their U.S. farewell tour,” said General Manager Yusuf Gandhi. “The Park Theatre’s intimate atmosphere and acoustics create unique concert experiences that our audiences have come to expect.”
In the next few weeks, the Park Theatre will announce additional concerts. The theatre has a robust holiday concert schedule featuring Under the Streetlamp – Hip to the Holidays (11/18); Carol of the King, The Irish Dance Christmas Spectacular (12/3); and Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker – 25th Anniversary Tour (12/4).
Built in 1924, the Park Theatre was a cultural landmark for nearly eight decades until its closing in 2002. Following seven years and $10 million in renovations, the Park Theatre was reborn as Rhode Island’s newest performing arts center. A fully equipped, state-of-the-art multipurpose facility, the theatre features concerts, theatrical performances, opera, dance, children’s and family shows, and more. Through extensive renovations, the theatre boasts a larger, deeper stage and 1,000 plush seats with significantly more legroom than most theatres have. The facility also includes the Stage Door Restaurant & Lounge, a pre-show destination offering a unique environment for guests to enjoy dinners, appetizers and cocktails before a performance. Free parking is available for all events. For more, visit www.ParkTheatreRI.com.
