Love on Cherry Hill

Celebrating love on Cherry Hill

Love was in the air Tuesday evening inside the main dining room at Cherry Hill Manor for the annual Sweetheart Dinner.

Soft lighting, music from a harp, red linen tablecloths and a variety of heart-shaped balloons were all part of the special setting arranged by Cheryl Perry, who serves as the manor’s activities director.

Among the guests were Carmino DiBiaso and his wife, Lucy. Ninety-one-year-old Carmino married 93-year-old Lucy on April 15, 1942 at Holy Ghost Church on Providence’s Federal Hill.

“That was the place to get married,” Carmino said. “It was a predominantly Italian parish; that’s where all the Italian people got married back in the day.”

The magnitude of the occasion was not lost on Ann Marie Greeno, the assistant activities director at Cherry Hill Manor.

“Not many couples have been married for nearly seven decades,” she said.

Manny Souza, who married his wife Mary Ann back on April 26, 1954, perhaps stole the show, however, leaning over to give his wife a kiss as dessert was served.
