Best-selling author Conti visits senior center

Posted

The women of the book club at the Johnston Senior Center recently were recently involved with speed, marijuana, drug cartels and kidnappings.

Theirs was a journey into the life of Dan “Tito” Davis, the subject of the book “Gringo: My Life on the Edge as an International Fugitive.” And to celebrate their completion of the novel, author and Hollywood screenwriter Peter Conti, who co-authored the book with Davis, paid the group a visit to discuss his work and answer the many questions the women had.

Davis’ complex life involves drug dealing, jail time, life as a fugitive and adventure. The book highlights his exploits, and serves as a biography and travel memoir of his life’s highs and lows. Conti, who has worked with and written about mob bosses, intellectuals, rock stars, boxing champions and actors, shared with the book club intricate details of the novel and his interactions with the colorful Davis.

Based on the feedback and reviews provided by the book club members, the novel was a smash hit and a must-read.
