Barnes turns pink to support Carnevale

Posted

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the S.D. Barnes Elementary School community is joining the fight against the disease. Over the past two years, Barnes has raised more than $2,000, contributing more than $800 this year alone.

Second grade teacher Carolyn Carnevale is one of many brave breast cancer survivors joining the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation’s Flames of Hope event, and hopes to be a torchbearer in the ceremony. Carnevale was a torchbearer last October as well, but needs the support of her community to do so again. Last Friday, Barnes held the second annual Pink Out to help Carnevale on her mission to raise funds and awareness for Gloria Gemma.
