Lauren Mary Barnes graduated in May with a Bachelor of Architecture, magna cum laude, from Auburn University’s five-year program.

Lauren minored in Italian and studied in the country for six months during her junior year. She was a member of the Architecture Honor Society, Tau Sigma Delta, Auburn University Student Recruiters and the CADC Recruiters.

Part of Lauren’s third year and all of her fifth year were spent at Rural Studio, an off campus Design Build program that assists the under-served population in West Alabama’s Black Belt region. The students in this program work within the community to define solutions, fund-raise, design and, ultimately, build remarkable projects.

Lauren’s team of four students designed women’s transitional housing for Project Horseshoe Farm, a community based non-profit organization. Her team will now return to Greensboro, Alabama to build the homes.
