Barnes’ bountiful baskets to help homeless

Posted

During the month of December, the faculty, staff, and students at Sarah Dyer Barnes Elementary school worked together to organize, collect, and assemble Welcome Home baskets for local homeless families at Crossroads in Providence. The baskets were filled with household items, cleaning supplies, toiletries, detergents and more, which were conveniently packaged in laundry baskets to be given to those in need. The mission of Crossroads Rhode Island is to help homeless or at-risk individuals and families secure stable homes. The organization provides housing, basic needs, shelter, case management, referrals, and education and employment services to those in need. Since 1894, Crossroads has been serving some of the most vulnerable people in our state. Today, they are the largest homeless services organization in Rhode Island.
