The calendar may say we are 14 days away from the first official day of spring, but for John Dick, the owner of Atwood Florist, SPRING has already SPRUNG! One only need to stroll into his cheerful flower shop on Atwood Avenue to feel and see all the sights of the season from the bouquets of pastel-colored flowers to the sweet fragrance of its roses, lilies and hydrangea. The shop is just a burst of sunshine and an explosion of color, everything to make you smile and feel a renewed sense of life and vigor.
What better way to celebrate the upcoming season than to make a beautiful wreath to adorn any door in your home? Or how about a flower box, overflowing with blossoms, to put on a doorstep or patio? John has been lifting customers’ spirits with his original floral arrangements for over 25 years, but these wreaths and flower boxes offer those same customers a whole new way to create something uniquely their own.
Beginning on Monday, March 9th and going through Saturday, March 21st, John will conduct wreath-making classes for groups of do-it-yourselfers and crafters of 8 to 16 participants! For only $40, guests will go home with a custom wreath of their own making! This year, John is also introducing flower boxes, as per a customer’s special request, which are yet another great way to brighten up any space in your home this spring.
That $40 includes everything you will need to make your beautiful and personalized creation, including a dazzling array of silk flowers, ribbons and bows to choose from, as well as the 20” grapevine wreath and/or flower box. The silk hydrangeas, always a popular seasonal flower, come in every color of the rainbow ~ lavender, pink, blue, peach, yellow, purple as well as combinations of lavender and blue, pink and blue and pink and peach. You might also choose from a breathtaking assortment of these silk flowers: peach & yellow delphiniums, purple petunias, yellow forsythia, blue cosmos, peonies, and Forget-me-nots!
If you need a way to get a jumpstart on spring, gather your craft-loving friends and sign up for a group class. Don’t worry if your group does not meet the minimum of eight members ~ John will set you up with another group (not to exceed 16!).
Refreshments and beverages are also provided so the whole class is full of fun, creativity, laughter, snacks and sunshine.
