Mini-Booksale

A book sale will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Prices will range from 25 cents to $2, with some bargain bag prices. Some vintage books may be priced higher. Children’s, fiction, non-fiction books, CDs, VCR and books on tape are available, along with a book-basket raffle. Proceeds will support library programs and events, including museum and zoo passes, concerts and summer reading for all ages.

Bookery and Cookery

Bookery and Cookery will be held the third Tuesday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m. Discuss cookbooks, chefs, foods, and other topics, and share food from recipes related to the month's topic. Each participant makes food at home from a recipe for 6, and brings a plate, silverware, and cup, then sample the food while discussing and evaluating the recipes. This free program is limited to 12. Project Chick

On Tuesday, April 18, at 10:30 a.m. join an educator from Casey Farm to learn about bird life cycles while helping to preserve the endangered Dominique chicken breed. Live chicks and chickens will be present for children to interact with. For ages 5 and up with a grown-up, no need to register. Casey Farm will also loan the library an incubator with some fertilized eggs. See the chicks hatch on Tuesday, May 9. They will stay at the library until Monday, May 15.  The project is sponsored by the Friends of Mohr Library.

Spring Crafts

Drop in with the children to make a variety of spring crafts on

Monday, April 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, bring your children to make a variety of Earth Day crafts on Wednesday, April 19, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Craft programs are not appropriate for children under 3 as small parts might present a hazard.

Print making

 

On Thursday, April 20, at 11 a.m. for

grades 1 and up: Use fruits, vegetables, flowers and leaves in ways never thought possible! Children will be armed with the foundations of basic printmaking and will be able to create their own amazing works of art. Please outfit children in clothes that may catch runaway paint. Play With Your Food

 On Friday, April 21, at 2 p.m. for grades 2 and up: When kids play with their food, it may drive parents up a wall. Instead, drive them to the library so that they can play with their food.  They will provide the children with healthy fruit and vegetable snacks and guide them to create food masterpieces that are worthy of being in a museum but will probably get eaten quite quickly Registration Required by calling (401) 231-4980 x5.

Plectoria

A musical trio in the library will take perform on Thursday, May 4, at 6:30 p.m. From Strauss Waltzes, Broadway, Gypsy Jazz, Blues and more, Plectoria, featuring one mandolin and two guitars, will present a program for an enjoyable night of music for all ages.

Film Trips

The library will be coordinating trips to watch films in theaters with discussions held afterwards. Participants must provide their own transportation. A time will be announced the week of the trip. For more information or to sign up, contact Kevin at (401) 231-4980 x0.
