Want to own a piece of local nightlife history?
You’ll soon have a chance, as items from the closed Mardi Gras Multiclub will be up for auction Feb. 16.
Mardi Gras, located at 1500 Oaklawn Ave. in Cranston, closed in November 2017 after nearly three decades in operation. The venue briefly reopened as Club 5 in 2018 but shut its doors against shortly thereafter.
Among the various venues under the “multiclub” heading included JR’s Fastlane, Mustang Sally’s and Monkey Bar.
Salvadore Auctions of Narragansett will host the auction at the club’s Oaklawn Avenue location. The company’s website touts the club as a “Rhode Island institution” and states bidding will be allowed live on-site and via simulcast.
“Fantastic auction of everything in one of Rhode Island’s most famous nightclub complexes,” reads a message on the auction’s Facebook event page.
Items up for auction will include a custom guitar signed by renowned rock band The Eagles, as well as Mardi Gras masks, disco balls, furniture, decorations, glassware, lighting and sound equipment, televisions, signs and a range of memorabilia.
Preview of the auction will be held Friday, Feb. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 16 from 9-11 a.m., according to Salvadore Auctioneers. Bidding begins at 11 a.m. on Feb. 16.
