An apple a day

In an effort to find a cure for cancer, 7-year-old Joseph Ciarlo of Thornton Elementary has started selling apples and apple cider to help raise funds to help support research. Joseph plans on identifying an organization to be the recipient of the funds he raises, to try to determine which one receives the greatest percentage of donation funds. According to his mom, Christen, the family will be opening an account at TD Bank to deposit the money so when an organization is identified a check may be sent. The first day he held his stand he collected $13 and the second day he raised $16.  The owner of Blanchard Farms was very kind and donated a box full of apples for the cause. “I have always taught my son to be generous and caring and do to others as you would like done to you.  He is a very special sweet little boy who is very ambitious and goes after what he wants,” said Christen. Here he is pictured with his friends Alaina Almonte (left) and Victoria Correia, who have assisted with his efforts. (Submitted photo)
