Alice L. DeSantis

Alice L. DeSantis, 99, died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the South Kingston Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late Alfred DeSantis.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John and Maria (Anderson) Carlson, Alice had lived in Warwick for 52 years. Alice was a much loved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was kind, funny and happy, and always had room at the table for one more person. She never yearned for more, always grateful for what she had. She leaves a legacy of love with all who were graced by knowing her. Rest in peace, sweet Allie, and joyously return to your family in heaven. You will be forever missed by those here on earth.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Chipman (husband, Barry) of Richmond, RI, and son, Kenneth deSantis (wife Michelle) of Warwick, RI. She was the mother of the late Ronald DeSantis (wife, Patricia DeSantis) of Exeter, RI. Alice was the sister of the late William Carlson, Edith Cannon, Evelyn Robley, Ethel Heden, and John Carlson. She is survived by five grandchildren: Melissa Hall, Seth Hannuksela, Tina Denton, Kenneth DeSantis, and Joshua DeSantis; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Mary DeSantis. Alice was the former mother-in-law of Vaino (Butch) Hannuksela and Debra (Hammond DeSantis) Belcher.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 10-11 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1817 Warwick Ave., Warwick, RI.Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
