MEET THE MAYORS: Pictured are the four mayors of Chocolate City during the yearlong lesson plan on how a community works. Speaking about his job is Hunter “Honey Bear” Feinstein, and behind him are Selena “Chick-a-dee” Albanese, Coralyn “Cora Cora Off To Borra” Barnes and Juliana “Ju-Ju Bug” Buscemi. They each took turns talking about their job.

First-grade students in Mrs. Alviti’s class at Sarah Dyer Barnes Elementary School recently held a Wax Museum. Since the beginning of the school year, her class created a city called Chocolate City and created job such as mayors, reporters, flag designers, sanitation engineers, bankers, mail carriers, medics, and responsibility officers. Mrs. Alviti gave each student a nickname to go along with his or her position. Together, the students were able to see first-hand how a community works.
