Round 1

Savage and Savage 15,

Coastway CB 7

Coastway built up a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the third inning. Savage and Savage scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take a one-run lead. After holding Coastway scoreless in the fourth inning, Savage and Savage exploded for eight more runs, which proved to be an insurmountable lead.

Jaden Rodas’ bat led Savage and Savage to an opening round playoff victory going 2-for-3, with three RBIs and three runs scored. Jack Ayers added a hit, two RBIs and two runs scored and Colby Barker drove in three runs on a double and scored a run.

AJ Ferreira had a good night at the plate for Coastway. Ferreira had three hits and scored twice. Vito Vinceguerra hit a double, which scored two runs, and Colin Lemiuex went 1-for-1 with 2 walks and a run scored. Jon Abatiello was responsible for three of Coastway’s runs as he had three RBIs on the night.

 

DeGiulio Insurance 6,

Donelan’s Senators 3

Donelan’s Senators scored in the first inning on a home run by Cullen McGrew. DeGiulio Insurance took the lead in the bottom of the second on a hit by Kaiden McGirr. McGirr plated JJ Tourgee and Aiden Comer, who had both singled. Donelan’s never trailed after taking the lead.

Brendan McCaffrey hit a double and scored a run and Lucas Hemond and Dylan Cunetta each had hits to lead DeGiulio to victory.

Mason Link had two hits for Donelan’s. He also pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings to keep his team in the game. Sean Gallagher had a hit and two walks and Colin Moran added a single. DeGiulio advanced to face Brennan’s Braces in the playoffs and Donelan’s moved to the elimination bracket to face Coastway Credit Union in what would be an elimination game.

 

Round 2

Brennan’s Braces 12,

DeGiulio Insurance 7

Brennan’s Braces jumped out to an early lead, scoring seven runs in the first inning. DJ Sollitto and Aiden Viveiros both hit home runs in the frame. Together, they combined to drive in five runs. Kenny Rix held the DeGiulio bats at bay over the first three innings, only allowing one unearned run.

Sollitto paced the Brennan hitting attack with a home run and a triple. Rix went 2-for-3 with a single, double, RBI and run scored. Dom Brazeau and Chase Pariseau both doubled and scored runs and Danny Halliwell added a triple and a run scored.

DeGiulio Insurance scored seven runs on the night. Brendan McCaffrey and JJ Tourgee hit back to back home runs in the fifth inning. Dylan Bourret had two hits on the night and scored two runs. Dylan Cunetta added a triple and scored and Myantonomo Garcia added a single and a run scored.

Donelan’s Senators 4

With both teams facing a possible playoff elimination, Coastway’s Colin Lemieux ensured it would not be his team. Lemieux had a monster night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, triple and a double. Lemieux drove in four runs and scored three times. Vito Vinceguerra and Dylan Raddock each added two hits and combined to score five runs and drive in another two.

Donelan’s Cullen McGrew had a big night at the plate, going 2-for–2 with a triple, walk, RBI and run scored. Zack Dimezza drove in a run on a single and Mason Link and Matt Lynch each singled and scored runs in this contest.

Coastway Bank moves on to face DeGiulio Insurance, and Donelan’s Senators were eliminated from the playoffs.

 

Elimination Bracket Round 2

DeGiulio Insurance 7,

Coastway CB 3

Visiting Coastway scored three runs in the top of the first inning courtesy of a 3-run home run by Jon Abatiello. Abitiello knocked in AJ Ferreira, who had singled, and Colin Lemieux who had reached base via walk.

DeGiulio Insurance tied the game in the bottom of the first by scoring 3 runs of their own. Max Turner held the Coastway bats in check over the next two innings and DeGiulio scored two runs in each of the next two innings to jump out to a 7-3 lead.

Brendan McCaffrey drove in two runs on a home run. Dylan Bourret and Lucas Hemond each had two hits and combined to score four runs. Seamus Comer contributed a hit, run and a RBI in the victory.

Max Turner pitched a complete game. Turner did not allow a run after the first inning. He struck out six batters on the night. Colin Lemieux entered the game in the third inning and did not give up a run. Lemieux pitched three scoreless innings and struck out six batters. With the loss, Coastway was eliminated from the playoffs.

Brennan’s Braces 10,

Savage and Savage 4

The winner of this game was awarded a trip to the finals and Brennan’s Braces made the most of their opportunity.

Brennan’s jumped out to an early lead in this contest, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Aaron Narcavage led off the inning with a single and Dom Brazeau drew a walk. An infield fielding error loaded the bases for Brennan’s clean-up hitter, Kenny Rix. Rix did not disappoint. Rix drove a single down the left field line to plate the first two runs of the game. DJ Sollitto followed Rix with a single of his own to drive in another run. Chris Scalzo kept the scoring going by driving in another run via single. When the inning ended, Brennan’s held a 6 – 0 lead; a lead that would prove to be more than enough to secure a victory.

Savage and Savage were unable to match the run production of Brennan’s Braces early on because of the strong pitching performance from Rix. Rix pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings, while striking out nine batters. Savage and Savage put their first runs on the board at the end of the fourth inning. Cam Nadeau went 2-for-3 (two doubles) and drove in two runs while scoring once. Stephen Souillier also had two hits on the night, and Thane Denton, Anthony Blade and Bobby Vale each had a hit for Savage and Savage.

Kenny Rix paced the Brennan Braces bats on the night going 3-for-3. Rix was responsible for four RBIs and two runs scored. Chris Scalzo went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Aaron Narcavage, Dom Brazeau, Chase Pariseau, DJ Sollitto and Aiden Viveiros each recorded hits on the night.

Brennan’s Braces moved on to the Winners’ Bracket finals and Savage and Savage will move to the consolation finals where they will play DeGiulio insurance.

The stakes were high for this Thursday night contest. The winner of this game would earn a trip to the league championship, while the losing team would be eliminated.

The game was tight in the early going as the score was close after three innings. The score stood 3-2 going into the fourth inning. In the bottom of the inning, the game took a drastic turn as Savage and Savage’s Cam Nadeau ripped a bases-loaded double to plate two runs. His teammates followed with several more hits to open up a big lead for Savage and Savage. The Savage and Savage scoring was capped by a Bryan Denton home run that accounted for the final three runs of the game.

DeGiulio Insurance scored two runs on the night courtesy of hits by Brendan McCaffrey, JJ Tourgee and Lucas Hemond.

Colby Barker earned the win, pitching a complete game.

The Savage and Savage victory earned them a rematch with Brennan’s Braces in the Championship.

 

Championship

Brennan’s Braces 12,

Savage and Savage 0

Savage and Savage failed to get a hit in the top of the first inning and Brennan’s Braces staked its claim for the championship from the onset. Aaron Narcavage hit a lead-off home run to center field to start the inning and DJ Sollitto followed Narcavage, a few batters later, with a home run of his own. Sollitto’s home run plated Chase Pariseau who had doubled.

Savage and Savage was unable to produce a hit again in the second inning. Aiden Viveiros boosted the Brennan lead to 4-0 In the bottom of the second, blasting his team’s third home run. Brennan’s Braces continued to swing hot bats in the bottom of the third inning and erupted for seven more runs; many more than they would need.

Kenny Rix had a stellar outing on the mound for Brennan’s. Rix pitched a complete game shut- out for Brennan’s. Rix allowed one hit and struck out seven.

Many Brennan’s hitters contributed to the team scoring. In addition to his lead-off home run, Narcavage later added an inside-the-park home run. DJ Sollitto added a triple to his home run and was responsible for knocking in three runs. Aiden Viveiros added a single and a home run and Chase Pariseau had two hits and two runs scored.

Brennan’s also had hitting contributions from Chris Scalzo, Dom Brazeau, Rix and Jeriel Garcia. The four combined for several RBIs and runs scored.

Brennan’s Braces is the 2016 Warwick North Major League Champions.
