Tri-Town Community Action Agency Health Centers were featured in a segment on WRNI 1290-AM Latino Public Radio, on April 27.

“We’re so pleased to have the opportunity to showcase our Health Center on this statewide platform and reach LPR’s listeners in the Rhode Island area,” said Tri-Town President and CEO Joseph DeSantis. “It’s a great chance to reach Spanish-speaking and bilingual Rhode Islanders and explain what our Health Centers can offer.”

According to statistics from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Uniform Data System, nearly one-third of Tri-Town’s patients in 2014 identified as Hispanic/Latino, DeSantis added.

LPR host Dr. Pablo Rodriguez interviewed Tri-Town Medical Director Dr. Matt Malek, who spoke in Spanish about his background in family medicine, the healthcare system at Tri-Town, and advice for staying informed about the Zika virus.

“Matt is an excellent ambassador for Tri-Town Health Centers and the integrated care that we provide to patients every day,” DeSantis said. “He’s really the embodiment of how we approach our mission of helping people and changing lives here at Tri-Town, and his fluency in Spanish allows him to communicate effectively with a wider range of patients.”

Malek’s feature on LPR was organized by Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island in a collaborative effort to keep residents informed of trending topics in healthcare.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Tri-Town in reaching out to Latino Public Radio’s listeners and discussing what we can offer Rhode Island families in terms of high-quality healthcare and other needs they may have,” Malek said. “Dr. Rodriguez is a highly respected voice in the Latino community, and I appreciate his support of the Tri-Town Health Center mission.”
