St. Brigid’s set to host 12th annual Fall Bazaar

Posted

Fresh from the highly-successful and sold out eighth annual 30-Week Club Dinner, the proud parishioners at St. Brigid’s Church will hold their 12th annual Fall Bazaar this Saturday and Sunday inside the Roman Catholic parish’s hall at 1231 Plainfield St. in Johnston.

So, if you like shopping for items like handmade jewelry, plan on taking in either one of the bazaar’s two days.

If you like sweet treats such as cakes, cookies and pies, St. Brigid’s will have all that and more Saturday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

But if previous St. Brigid’s Bazaars are any indication, plan on doing your special shopping early. The event has been highly popular in years past, and the most sought-after have a way of selling out.

Fran Wilke, who has chaired the popular holiday event for the past few years, noted that this year’s bazaar will also feature theme baskets, knitting items, handmade bottle openers, wine corking, a straw pull, a lottery wreath, gift wrapping and even a silent auction.

Louisa Iannotti, the public relations person at St. Brigid’s, also announced that people attending Saturday’s session can look forward to homemade sausage and pepper and meatball sandwiches.

“We’ll also have hot dogs,” said Iannotti, who chaired the recent 30-Week Club Dinner held at Cranston Country Club. “Come and have lunch and shop all afternoon.”

The wine corking is always one of the most popular booths at the bazaar, as is the always-colorful collection of handmade Christmas items and – as is the case at most bazaars and church events – the sweet shoppe.

“We’ll have an array of vendors again this year,” Wilke said. “And they’ll be selling handbags, knitted items and novelties, just to name a few of their many different items that will all be reasonably priced.”

Wilke and Iannotti also announced that this year’s bazaar will include a 60/40 raffle that’s comparable to the always-popular 50/50 raffle.

“There will be fun, food and many, many items for people of all ages,” Iannotti said. “We welcome everyone – the many people who have supported us in recent years and those folks who’d like to see what we offer and are all about.”
