Another in a series of programs dealing with the American Civil War was held Sept. 17 at the Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library. Historian Stephen Usler told the story of Rhode Island’s Capt. John Knight Bucklyn, who fought in many of the major battles of the Civil War, was wounded at least three times and received the Congressional Medal of Honor. Usler’s personal research is being compiled into a book called “Adrift on a Restless Sea: The Story of Capt. John Knight Bucklyn,” which he estimates will be ready for publication in about a year.
